  • While the course does include mental health approaches and strategies that are culturally responsive, you may be interested in Cultural Inclusiveness and Equity WISE, a companion course of Classroom WISE coming in Summer 2022! In this course, developed by the Central East MHTTC in partnership with the National Center for School Mental Health, educators will learn how inequities in education impact student mental health and how implicit bias influences our perceptions and responses. Building on this foundation, educators will learn culturally inclusive classroom strategies to support student mental health. Learn more here.

  • Classroom WISE was designed to eliminate a number of barriers to schools using other mental health trainings for teachers, including:

    • Cost. Many MH literacy trainings are costly. MH knowledge should be accessible to everyone, regardless of cost.

    • Pace. Everyone learns differently. Self-paced means more accessible learning and retention for a diverse audience.

    • Duration. This course is efficiently packed with essential information. Averaging 5 hours, the length of this training is ideal.

    • Timing. This course is available 24/7 365 days a year. Unlike stand-alone trainings, anyone can access this course at any time. Educators have full plates. We wanted this content to be as accessible as possible for anyone's schedule.

    • Interactive. While live trainings are great, our priority was to make this as accessible to as many people as possible. We worked hard to design this course with a balance of accessibility and interactivity.

  • Classroom WISE includes evidence-based strategies to promote student mental health and support students with mental health challenges. Strategies are based on the scientific literature on school climate, mental health literacy, social emotional learning, and school-based interventions for mental health problems. Learn more about the evidence-based components in Classroom WISE here.
